This classic recipe comes from the original solar cooking recipe book published by the Solar Oven Society. It is truly a "dump" cake. Dump everything in a bowl, stir and bake! Perfect for baking on the road or at home.
1 chocolate cake mix
3 eggs beaten
1 can cherry pie filling
1 tsp almond flavoring
Preheat the solar oven. In a bowl, beat the three eggs. Empty the box of cake mix into a mixing bowl. Add the can of cherry pie filling and almond extract. Mix all the ingredients until well blended. Grease and flour two black solar oven pots. Pour batter into the two pots and spread out evenly. Put lids on pots, place pots in the Solavore Sport solar oven. Bake for approximately 2 hours. The cake is done when it starts to pull away from the sides.
This cake is so moist that it is delicious without frosting. Topping it with whipped cream and more cherries is always an option.
